On A Day Like Today

Autumn fairy tale in Lauterbrunnen Valley

Last weekend I took my visiting family to one of the most magical places in Switzerland – Lauterbrunnen Valley, which is said to have inspired Tolkien’s Rivendell. The valley is perfect for pleasant walks with outstanding scenery throughout, and those looking for more challenging treks are offered numerous trails going up to 3000m (see the last picture).

Lauterbrunnen is known as the valley of 72 waterfalls, with Staubbach Falls (nearly 300m high) being its most famous landmark

Valley’s fairy tale scenery almost seems unreal

View from Schilthorn, a 2970m summit overlooking Lauterbrunnen Valley. On a clear day you can see Lake Thun and even Jura mountains on the horizon
